As I learned in the professional image industry years ago.... the more skin women show, the less respect they receive.

One of the women who won a Golden Globe is morbidly obese and wore a dress that was totally inappropriate. Is this the role model for your daughter—it's fine to look any way you choose to look? That's not "body shaming" it's a choice about health and aesthetics.

With every step she took, I was afraid of a major “wardrobe malfunction.”

She did a great job in the movie. Why couldn’t she get a  designer who could work with her body shape to really make her look good?

I just couldn't watch. At the table, a part of her anatomy was visible that shouldn't have been. I think the trend now is away from "How can I look good?" (despite Oprah once again parading her weight loss) to "FY, this is who I am," and who you are shouldn't really be inflicted on others in that case.

There's a lot we politely overlook, such as the (mostly) "fifth wheel" women added to sports shows who wear revealing clothing and heels they can barely stand in, adding nothing else to the proceedings. Seriously, is football broadcasting improved by "sideline reporters"? Every auto show I've been to has had some gorgeous creature draped over the hood of a car. "I think we should consider that," I said to TLM. "You want to buy a Ford?" she asked. "I wasn't talking about the car," I said.

Alan, that reminds me of the outdoor humorist Patrick McManus talking about the then-current trend of bikini-clad women in sporting goods catalogs. Along the lines of "the young lady on page 50 looked to be well worth the $900, and then I realized....they were selling the rifle."
